Rail RT Vehicle Positions

Description

GTFS RT 2.0 vehicle positions feed for WMATA rail. Please refer to the GTFS RT vehicle positions reference for details on this operation. Additional notes to supplement the referenced documentation are listed below.

As this is a binary feed, using the Developer Portal's Try it feature will not work as expected.

VehicleDescriptor

FieldWMATA Notes
idUniquely identifiable internal train identifier.

WMATA Example: 422
labelNon-unique train identifier, often used by WMATA's Rail Scheduling and Operations Teams, as well as over open radio communication.

WMATA Example: 213
license_plateNumber of cars. Can sometimes be 0 when there is no data available.

WMATA Example: 8
occupancy_statusEstimated degree of passenger occupancy for the vehicle.

MANY_SEATS_AVAILABLE: Rail car less than 20% occupied
FEW_SEATS_AVAILABLE: Rail car 20% - 32% occupied
FULL: Rail car is occupied 33% or greater
